March 8 is our next scheduled monthly meeting, and I do believe this is our 5th Anniversary as a Club so come celebrate with us.
Our monthly meetings are held the second Saturday afternoon of the month at the Bellingham Unitarian Fellowship, 1207 Ellsworth St. from 1:30 -3:30, and occasionally we extend for snacks and social time. We are on the second floor, there is an elevator and the building is handicap accessible. All players, both beginners and experienced, are welcome to join in. The first half of meeting is reviewing recently learned tunes, then learning a new tune and ending with more the traditional song circle.
The tunes we will be reviewing this month are "Groundhog", "Farther Away" and "Crooked Ridge" . We will begin with "Happy Land" as usual.
Haven't lined up a new tune yet for this month so if anyone is interested please let me know. I have "Streets of Laredo" as a possibility, after that we are open to play whatever you would like. It would be nice if everyone calls a tune so please look at our play list for suggestions.
Hope to see lots of friendly faces this month.
The Bellingham Dulcimer Club - aka the BDC - is located in the City of Bellingham in Whatcom County in Washington State. Club members are local folks with a shared interest in the Appalachian mountain dulcimer. Club activities include meetings/song circles on the 2nd Saturday afternoon of most months and performances of dulcimer music at venues within the County.

Tablature and Lyrics for "Groundhog"
Thanks to Jerry Kramer for sharing "Groundhog" with Club members who attended last Saturday's meeting. At "Club Music", above, there are two (2) tabs, Jerry's and another for us "sight-challenged" folks. The latter also includes an "alternate" fret (9 on the middle string) for folks who do not have an extra "61/2" or "6+" fret on their dulcimer. Lyrics are also included. Later . . .

February, 2014 Meeting Report
We had a good turnout for our February meeting: 7 of us and a few visitors. After reviewing our 4 tunes, Jerry taught us "Groundhog", a great quick tune which gets us to stretch ourselves into the upper range of our fret boards, so we will be ready to go for next February. We then called some tunes such as "Lynchburg Town", "New River Train", "Fiddling Around with Bile", "Soldiers Joy", John Ryan's, "Butcher's Gap" and more.
Would love to keep this group growing musically as well as member attendance. We welcome all new and experienced players. Would like to explore new songs in different tunings and styles. So just let us know what your interests are! Hope to see you all in March.
